USA Football and the New York Jets will conduct a Heads Up Football Player Safety Coaches clinic Saturday, July 15, at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center in Florham Park, New Jersey. USA Football will instruct Player Safety Coaches (PSCs) representing youth leagues from across the region. PSCs will then implement Heads Up Football to their schools’ and leagues’ coaches, players and parents as well as monitor practices and games throughout the season.

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body and a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, establishes important standards to advance the fun and fitness of football through the best available science.

USA Football’s Heads Up Football program is endorsed by the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and more than four dozen other leading organizations spanning medicine and sport. Heads Up Football is a comprehensive approach to better teach and play the game educating coaches on equipment fitting; shoulder tackling and blocking fundamentals, CDC-approved concussion recognition/response, sudden cardiac arrest protocols, and heat preparedness/hydration.

In addition to hands-on training, the program also features a pair of online curriculums: one for high school coaches and another for youth coaches. The program is endorsed by a combined total of 32 state high school athletic associations and high school football coaches associations spanning 26 states.

In concert with the Seattle Seahawks and USA Rugby, and endorsed by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the NFL, USA Football has released its Shoulder Tackling training system for 2017 – an evolution of the existing Heads Up Football safety program designed to unify the approach to tackling at all levels of the sport.
