How to Green Your Closet: a sustainability deep dive

In this program, we will have Megan Meiklejohn, EILEEN FISHER’s (a woman’s clothing company known as a leader in sustainability) Transparency Manager, who will dig into clothing’s unseen impacts—from the farm to the dyehouse to your closet.

And Claire Whitcomb, Madison Environmental Commission chair and a longtime writer at EILEEN FISHER, will share the basics of building a mindful wardrobe.

The program will cover everything from shopping mindfully to recycling clothing, even when it’s worn and torn.

 You will learn how to:
identify which fibers are most sustainable, shop for simple, quality clothes, make sustainable choices about washing, repairing and caring for your clothes, and find resources for recycling textiles at the end of their life

Textile artist Deborah Robinson will share examples of her visible mending projects and talk about how she uses embroidery techniques to turn torn clothing into art.

We will also have Annie Choi from Fibershed, https://www.fibershed.com/affiliate/nj-fibershed/ to talk about her work locally.

The program is open to all but registration is required and can be made either via the library events calendar at www.livingstonlibrary.org , in person or by calling 9739924600
