EAST HANOVER, NJ – The Hanover Park High School football team won its first game of the season following a 46-19 blowout win over Kinnelon Friday night.
Coming off a season-opening loss to Lenape Valley, the Hornets amassed 647 yards of offense – 259 in the air and 388 on the ground.
Hanover Park connected on 70 percent of its third downs and went 2-for-3 on fourth downs.
After trailing 6-0 early, Hanover Park scored 26 points unanswered to take a 26-6 lead in the second quarter. The Hornets went into the half up 26-12.
In total, Hanover Park scored four rushing touchdowns and three passing scores.
The Hornets came out of the half with a 72-yard TD run and then a 38-yard run for a score.
Hanover Park was efficient on the defensive end all night, swarming to the ball and getting to the ball carrier.
The Hornets will be back in action at 2-0 Madison next Saturday.
