EAST HANOVER, N.J.- Three-sport athlete Joe LoPinto has had a baseball, basketball or volleyball in his hand since he was 4 years old. Ten years later, he mastered several positions both on the field and the court. LoPinto is the State Farm Athlete of the Week.
On the courts, he was fast and agile, a very strong support at the net and on the way to the net. He helped the East Hanover Middle School Volleyball team make it to the finals this season. He also had a knack for three-point shots almost anywhere on the basketball court.
The baseball field was home. When he wasn't on the mound for The East Hanover Middle School Eagles, Park East or Legends, LoPinto had the entire left side of the field locked down. He was a part of the Eagles back to back championship titles in 2018 and 2019. This year his record was 11-1. In the championship game he not only made the game winning out but also scored the run that secured the win. High school will be a new experience for LoPinto, but he brings a love and talent for the game and that's more than ten years in the making.
