HANOVER, NJ - The Park Regional ice hockey team made up of Whippany Park and Hanover Park high schools is off to a 2-1-1 start to the season. 

Park Regional, a member of the Haas/Charette Division of the Morris County Secondary Schools Ice Hockey League, played Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown to a 2-2 tie to open the season on Nov. 30. 

Despite being outshot 44-32, Park Regional put in the game-tying goal in the third period. Angelo DePinto and Joey Demartinis both scored and Tyler Cross led the team with two assists.

Park Regional then had a 10-0 shutout of Parsippany Regional on Dec. 4 for the team’s first win of the season. Mike DeRosa led the team offensively with four goals, and Cross finished with three goals and two assists. DePinto had a five-assist game. 

Eight days later, Park Regional kept the momentum going with a 4-1 victory over Newton-Lenape Valley – scoring three goals in the second period. 

Cross, DePinto, Ed Korpinski and Mike Monahan all found the back of the net. 

Park Regional suffered its first loss of the season in a 3-0 defeat to Gill St. Bernard’s on Saturday, Dec. 14. 

Park Regional is coming off a 14-9-3 season, reaching the Haas Cup final and making the NJSIAA Public B tournament.
