PARSIPPANY – The third-seeded Parsippany Hills High School football team won the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 championship following a 38-21 victory over fourth-seeded West Essex on Friday, Nov. 22.
In a rematch of an Oct. 26 matchup – a 35-7 Par Hills victory – the Vikings celebrated a sectional title on their home field. Par Hills won its first sectional title since 2014.
The Vikings won their ninth in a row and 10th game overall. They haven’t lost since Sept. 20.
Quarterback J.D. Breslauer threw five touchdown passes, with three going to reliable receiving weapon E.J. Comerford.
The Vikings will play Ramapo in the regional championship at MetLife Stadium.
Roger Rubinetti connected on a 20-yard field goal as Parsippany Hills took a 3-0 lead over West Essex in the first quarter.
West Essex quarterback Nicholas Ciaglia then scored on a 2-yard run as the Knights grabbed a 7-3 lead.
Par Hills got its offense going in the second quarter as Breslauer found Comerford on TD passes of 9 yards and a yard.
Breslauer threw a 27-yard TD pass to Comerford in the third quarter as the Vikings built a 24-7 advantage.
Jordan Thompson had TD catches of 17 and 14 yards in the second half.
Ciaglia scored on another run and he found Chris Bell on a 9-yard TD for West Essex, which finished its season at 9-3.
Despite two interceptions, Breslauer was extremely efficient, going 21-of-30 for 239 yards and the five TDs.
He also ran the ball four times for 37 yards, while Dominick Verducci had 14 carries for 41 yards.
Ty Sallie had an interception for the Vikings, and Comerford, David Giraldo and Brandon Perot had sacks.
Comerford made 10 receptions for 109 yards and the three TDs on the night.
Dennis Wilson hauled in five receptions for 81 yards.
The date and time for the regional championship game against Ramapo is to be determined.
