Crossing Guard was in Crosswalk with Stop Sign Up in Bloomfield motor vehicle incident that struck two children

BLOOMFIELD, NJ - New details are emerging regarding a motor vehicle incident in which two children were struck while in the crosswalk Glenwood Avenue at Maolis Avenue.

Bloomfield police told TAPinto Bloomfield that three witnesses to the incident reported that the crossing guard was in the crosswalk with her stop sign up. The sign was directed so that cars on Glenwood Avenue would stop. 

The vehicle involved in the incident was traveling north on Glenwood Avenue when it failed to stop for a red traffic signal and veered right, disregarding the crossing guard. The vehicle then struck two children who were waiting on the east side of the Glenwood Avenue crosswalk.

Charges against the driver are pending according to police. Police as also waiting for word from the guardians of the children regarding their health.
