 East Orange Education Foundation Awards Scholarships to Ten Graduating Seniors


EAST ORANGE, NJ - After receiving many scholarship applications from three East Orange high schools, the East Orange Education Foundation, Inc. (EOEF) awarded ten students with $500.00 each on June 20, 2016.

The students are: Makiyah Baptiste, Jamiroquai Ellison, David Garcia, Yuvenca Georges and Mary Pierre-Louis from Cicely Tyson High School; Joshua Ali and Awa Niang from East Orange Campus High School; and Zakiyyah Carter, Cindy Gnawa and Samantha Murrell from S.T.E.M. Academy.

The organization’s solitary mission is to provide supplemental educational funding opportunities and scholarships to students and teachers in the East Orange School District.

The Foundation awards scholarships annually to graduating seniors. Parents should contact the guidance counselor at their child’s school, and recipients are selected through an application process. Scholarships are selected by EOEF and are given on an as-needed basis.

EOEF has been successful in providing East Orange students with scholarships with funds we raise through the Annual East Orange School District Intergenerational Spelling Bee and Annual Congressman Donald M. Payne, Sr. "Torchbearer for Education" Awards Luncheon.

The East Orange Education Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to providing scholarships through grants and fundraising to worthy East Orange students upon high school graduation. The Foundation welcomes interested participants and support towards its efforts.
