300 Kites to Be Distributed at Kiting Event with a Purpose

EAST ORANGE, NJ – The East Orange City Council, in conjunction with Mayor Ted R. Green, will host Family Kite Flight on Saturday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Elmwood Park. The event, at which 300 kites will be distributed, is a free fun-filled family event that will also include music and vendors.  The event is co-hosted by Third and Fourth Ward Council Members, Quilla Talmadge and Bergson Leneus and Fourth Ward Council Members, Casim Gomez and Tameka Garrett-Ward in conjunction with Mayor Green.

According to Councilman Leneus, “Family Kite Flight” will provide an exciting day for children and families as they receive and learn how to fly a kite.  The event also raises awareness for Precious Little Ladies (preciouslittleladies.org), and founder, Aziza Kibibi.

This is the first kiting event in East Orange hosted by the National Kite Association of America according to Councilman Leneus.  The National Kite Association of America will demonstrate kite flying and provide lessons on flying kites.
