EAST ORANGE, NJ - Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that Newark Police arrested a male juvenile from East Orange for an attempted armed robbery that occurred on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
Shortly after 9 a.m., a 38-year old woman was accosted by a suspect who demanded her personal property at knife-point near the intersection of Ferry Street and Madison Avenue. The suspect fled before getting anything when he saw a man approaching.
Newark Police located the juvenile on Nicholas Street within minutes of the incident. He was arrested and is charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
