East Orange Mayor to Appear on CBS Evening News To Discuss Race Relations Tonight at 6:30

EAST ORANGE, NJ - Mayor Lester E. Taylor III will appear on CBS Evening News, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 in a panel discussion on Race Relations in America. 

He was invited to be interviewed by CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley in New York to discuss public safety initiatives in East Orange, New Jersey in the wake of the Ferguson, Mo. and New York City protests. Taylor also discussed community policing, the use of cameras in intelligence-led policing and positive police interactions in the city.

“We are very proud of what we are doing in the City of East Orange to keep our residents safe. I was extremely honored to have an opportunity to have candid dialogue about our public safety initiatives with other mayors on a national platform,” Taylor said.

Other participants included Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson of Gary, Ind., Mayor Ed Murray of Seattle, Wash., and Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez of Miami-Dade, Fla.
