EAST ORANGE, NJ – The East Orange Health Department, in conjunction with the SAVE Program of Rutgers UMDNJ, is sponsoring a Women’s Health Day to help women be proactive about their health and stay on schedule with necessary screenings.
The event will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, starting at 9am, at the Health Department located at 143 New Street, East Orange, NJ 07018. Registration is required by Friday, September 23, 2016 by calling 973.266.5463.
The free screenings will test for colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, blood pressure, HIV, STD and TB. Mammograms will be given to women who are under and uninsured only.
Research shows that of all minority groups, African Americans have the most, and many times the largest, differences in health risks. City officials say programs like Women’s Health Day help to close this gap, especially among chronic health issues that can be prevented or treated with early detection.”
