NEWARK, NJ - One of the enduring traditions of late spring/early summer in our parks is the Essex County Fishing Derby. This year is no exception. 

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. is pictured congratulating all the winners in their various age and gender groupings. The derby took place Saturday June 10th.  The next fishing derby is Saturday, June 17th in Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex by the Orange Reservoir. The pictures are as follows:

Tyler Tolson from East Orange, Rafael Garcia from Newark, Zakiyah Tolbert from Newark and Kimora Weston from Hillside for catching the four largest fish during the Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park Derby.

Taiquan Mitchell from East Orange for catching the most fish in the boys' age 6-10 category during the Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park Derby on Saturday, June 10th. He caught nine fish. 

Lemyah Weathers from Orange for catching the most fish in the girls' age 6-10 category during the Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park Derby on Saturday, June 10th. She caught six fish. 

Kaila Weathers from Orange for catching the most fish in the girls' age 0-5 category during the Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park Derby on Saturday, June 10th. She caught four fish.

Alana Moses from East Orange for catching the first fish in the girls' category during the Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park Derby on Saturday, June 10th. She caught her first fish at 9:20 a.m. 

Cavon Weathers from Orange and Sudaays Dickens from East Orange for catching the first fish in the boys' category during the Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park Derby on Saturday, June 10th. They both caught their first fish at 9 a.m.
