Essex Grassroots Tennis & Education, INC. (EGTE) Offers Fall Tennis Program


EAST ORANGE, NJ - Essex Grassroots Tennis & Education, INC. (EGTE) is a non-profit organization striving to provide opportunities for youths from underprivileged families and communities to achieve their full potential. EGTE’s aim is to promote overall health and wellness to encourage personal growth, using tennis and education as a platform to instill the virtues of patience, perseverance, fortitude and responsibility.

EGTE programs are based on the philosophy of tennis legend Arthur Ashe. EGTE is part of National Junior Tennis and learning (NJTL), which is a nationwide network for non-profit youth development organizations.

The program offers structured, progressive instruction which extends beyond sports.

They operate on three basic principles; Access, Affordability and Opportunity. Educational programs and guidance augment the teaching in school through homework assistance and encouraging competency in mathematics and literacy. After school academic initiative programs are designed to support and encourage academic achievement, health, wellness, and strengthen life skills.

The fall tennis program prepares all levels of tennis players from beginner to advance; high-school and tournament players, to people that have never had a racquet before.

Racquets and balls are available for children to use during program hours. Participants need  only bring water and tennis sneakers. The fall instructional focus will emphasize form, stroke production, control, movement, tactics, balance, agility, coordination, footwork, rallying skills, fun & teamwork.

Additionally, the program focuses on helping kids succeed off the court by focusing on sustaining and furthering their education with homework help, study skills, college application process and preparation.

The program is managed by Samuel Inalegwu,USPTR/USTA High Performance Coach.
