Five Separate Undercover Investigations Lead to 17 Arrests and the Seizure of Over $30K of Narcotics in East Orange and Orange

EAST ORANGE, NJ - The East Orange Police Department arrested 17 people and seized over $30,000 worth of narcotics and illegal weapons as a result of several undercover investigations prompted by citizen complaints and anonymous tips, city officials said.

Police said the investigations, which have taken place over the past five months in both East Orange and Orange, were not connected. 

“Residents are often our eyes and our ears. Maintaining open lines of communication between our officers and the people who live and work here is vital to ensuring that we keep crime and illegal drug activity out of our community,” said Public Safety Director Sheilah Coley.

The resulting arrests included the seizure of 997 grams of marijuana, 21 grams of crack cocaine, and over a pound of heroin. Each investigation also led to the seizure of numerous handguns, ammunition, assault and semi-automatic weapons. All suspects were charged with numerous state narcotics and weapons offenses.
