NEWARK, NJ - The Greater Newark Conservancy’s Annual Fall Block Party is taking place on Saturday, October 15th from 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. at the Judith L. Shipley Environmental Learning Center, 32 Prince Street (between South Orange and Springfield Avenues) across from the ShopRite of Newark.
This year’s event will feature free activities, including informative gardening and cooking demos, crafts and activities for kids, community organizations, local vendors selling and sampling their products, a Fall Mum Sale and the Conservancy’s Youth Farm Stand featuring fresh, locally grown produce from its urban farms in Newark, all at affordable prices.
Back by popular demand, the Conservancy will be hosting a seasonal recipe contest at the Fall Block Party with a focus on corn, beans and squash. Recipe entries must use at least one (or more) of these vegetables as the main ingredient.
All participants must register in advance and will receive a $5 gift certificate to use at the Youth Farm Stand. Please call 973-642-4646 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more contest details and to register.
