EAST ORANGE, New Jersey, September 16, 2020 – “Citizen voices are important in keeping cities moving forward – which is why we transitioned our community meetings to VIRTUAL community meetings nearly four months ago,” according to Christopher D. James, Chairman of the East Orange City Council. “The pandemic has provided a new platform for the city of East Orange – we are seeing record numbers of citizen engagement – it was a natural pivot for us to host our Community Meetings virtually.”
The Chairman said this is why the East Orange City Council has returned to hosting Community Meetings. A VIRTUAL Community Meeting will be held in each of the city’s five wards. The First Ward Community meeting will be held on Thursday, September 16th and will be hosted by First Ward Council Members Chairman James and Councilwoman Amy Lewis. The Fourth Ward Virtual Meeting was held yesterday and hosted by Councilmembers Casim Gomez and Tameika Garrett Ward.
Registration is required to join the Zoom Meeting. Citizens can register at w-w.tinyurl.com/1stwardmeeting. “It’s essential that we continue to give citizens an opportunity to be a part of government-their voices are important to our work,” said Councilwoman James. Councilwoman Lewis said, “Citizen participation is key to us representing our residents.”
All meetings will be held at 6 p.m. Each of the community meetings will have a different zoom address. For more information on the Community Meetings, please call 973-266-5120 or visit East Orange City Council on Facebook.
