A veritable ‘who’s who’ of Newark’s and greater Newark’s corporate and civic luminaries will have to wait a few more days to tee it up to help raise $50,000 to benefit grassroots programs in Newark’s South Ward at the Inaugural John Sharpe James South Ward Civic Association Golf Outing. Another inclement weather forecast for Thursday, October 10th, has forced a second postponement until the new rain date: Tuesday, October 15th. The event is being held at the historic, challenging, and beautiful Weequahic Golf Course located at 1 Thomas Carmichael Drive, Newark, N.J. Registration and breakfast begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start tee time.  The event features breakfast,18 holes of golf and an awards luncheon at 4:00 p.m. Winning teams and participants receive merchandise, door prizes and will have an opportunity to win a hole - in - one luxury car. The Inaugural “JSJSWCA“ charity golf outing is an event whose time has come to celebrate Newark’s renaissance and because John Sharpe James has been an outspoken advocate for the issues that impact the quality of life; to foster revitalization efforts for the residents of the South Ward; and, for the Citizens of Newark. “Due to a second inclement weather forecast for this Thursday, October 10th we decided it best to postpone the event until Tuesday, October 10th, tournament chairman John Sharpe James stated. “We are pleased our corporate and community partners have ‘stepped up to the plate’ to help make this Inaugural John Sharpe James Civic Association Inaugural Golf Outing a resounding success. This is an event designed to engage the business community and the community – at - large. Most importantly, the proceeds from this effort will help speed up the day when we can create greater sustainability for grassroots civic community organizations,” tournament chairman John Sharpe James continued.  Honorary Co-Chairs include: Ras Baraka, Mayor, City of Newark, NJ, Joseph N.
