Khalfani Alleyne & Force Foundation Answer Budget Cuts With Generous Donation of Snacks for Students

EAST ORANGE, NJ - Recently word reached our office that a young father in the 2nd Ward was making donations of snacks for children in the school district. In speaking to him (Khalfani Alleyne) we discovered his passion to help collecting and distributing snacks for the kids at school stemmed from his concern for his own two young boys as well as a love for East Orange and Orange.

In his written statement on Facebook he posts: “In October, I learned that the East Orange Public School District's budget was cut by 3.5 million; cutting many programs, including free snacks for the Preschools and Kindergarten programs. So, together with the non-profit organization Force Foundation NJ, we raised enough money to provide snacks each day for each Preschool and Kindergarten program throughout the entire 2nd Ward of East Orange. (That’s) over 25,000 snacks from November to the end of the school year. We call it #SnacksGiving. For me, its really about making my community better.”

The snack giveaway is not the first time Khalfani has teamed with Force Foundation NJ. Back in September the duo hosted a free back-to-school haircut and manicure campaign.  Over 100 back packs were given away. The East Orange Library also donated school supplies, along with assistance from the East Orange Fire Dept., East Orange Recreation Dept. and non profits, My Brother's Keeper and Real Chicks Association.
