EAST ORANGE, NJ - In a packed, standing room only setting, Mayor Lester Taylor and his staff held a meeting at the East Orange Golf Course to explain the city’s plans to transform this resource into a true asset for the residents of East Orange and environs.

Taylor, in keeping with his promise of transparency at every stage of his administration, disclosed in great detail the process and plan to bring the East Orange Golf Course “up to par” with other courses in the area.

Thanks in large measure to Valerie Jackson, Director of Policy, Planning & Development and Christopher Coke Director of the Department of Public Works the golf course is moving at what many consider break-neck speed toward being operational by Memorial Day Weekend.

The mayor spoke of managing the golf course, “like a business” instead of another government division. This will include a state of the art facility including, a quality clubhouse, driving range and pro shop.

The room was filled with residents that came on complimentary buses provided by the city, several current and former East Orange City Council members, business professionals and local residents from Short Hills (where the property is located).
