NEWARK, NJ - On Wednesday, September 17th, County Executive DiVincenzo and the Essex County Utilities Authority will announce that Essex County’s 22 municipalities will save a total of about $5.6 million in “tipping fees” thanks to a newly negotiated municipal solid waste disposal contract with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. The savings are the result of a new seven-year contract in which Essex County municipalities will continue to send their solid waste to the Essex County Resource Recovery Facility in Newark.
