EAST ORANGE, NJ – The East Orange Police Division (EOPD) has a new Interactive Community Alert Network (iCAN) which allows people to confidentially report suspicious activity, and send in tips about areas with graffiti, drug activity, and more. iCAN is not recommended to be used in place of calling 911 to report emergencies and/or urgent situations which require immediate emergency first responder assistance.

Through iCAN, people can interact with officers on duty, report suspicious activity via text message or email, and provide pictures or video to officers. The EOPD will keep your personal information private and secure. It will not be disclosed to anyone except as required and permitted by law.

The goal of iCAN is to empower residents to assist in the efforts to reduce crime and fortify new and improved community relationships between officers and citizens. “Our officers have done a phenomenal job of building relationships with our residents and this new initiative will take our public safety efforts to another level of community collaboration,” said Mayor Ted Green.
