ORANGE, NJ - In a move heralded by some as a “positive step in the right direction”, interim Orange Township School Superintendent Ronald C.Lee recently announced an initiative he calls, the ‘Parent Academy’. This initiative is created to encourage and provide parents and guardians of Orange school age students a pathway for proactive involvement.
In keeping with the township motto: Keeping Children First, the Parent Academy strives to increase communication between the district and parents, to provide training for parents in all districts and state initiatives, and to create schools where the parents are recognized as partners in the educational process.
To become a Parent Academy member a family need only be invited by a school administrator, invited by a current Academy member or attend one of the workshops and sign up in person.
Parent Academy members are encouraged to attend 10 or more hours of family engagement activities, workshops, town hall meetings and Parent Academy general meetings.
