NEWARK, NJ - Manuel Yupa- Maurizaca, 40, of Orange was among nine men charged with solicitation of prostitution, according to a release from the Newark Department of Public Safety.

The Newark Department of Public Safety release also stated that "in response to quality of life complaints, Newark Police arrested four women and nine men for prostitution in the area of Clinton Avenue and 20th Street to Hawthorne Avenue and Birks Place on Friday, September 9."

According to the release, two women from Newark and two women from Irvington were arrested and charged with prostitution, and nine men were arrested "while seeking sex for money."

In addition to the man from Orange who was arrested, the other men included three from Newark, two  from Irvington, and one from Maplewood.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety release, "all were charged with prostitution. A total of 7 vehicles were towed during the arrests."
