Police Arrest East Orange Man for Lafayette Street Robbery and Shooting

NEWARK, NJ - Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports the arrest of Daron J. Morgan, 19, of East Orange, for a robbery and shooting that occurred outside of Alondra’s Bar, located at 149 Lafayette Street, Newark, NJ on Thursday, March 30, 2017. 

At approximately 11:28 p.m., officers responded to the bar on a call of a man shot. The 39-year old male victim was outside the bar when he was approached by a male suspect who attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The victim was shot and transported to University Hospital where he is reported to be in stable condition.  

Detectives developed evidence that Daron J. Morgan is a suspect in this incident. He was arrested today and is charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
