S.O.F.I.A.'s 5th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence is September 12th

Montclair, N.J. – This Saturday, September 12, 2015, Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (S.O.F.I.A.) will once again spread the word that “With Awareness There is Hope” at its 5th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence in Canterbury Park in Montclair, NJ. Registration for the event begins at 9 AM. The Walk begins at 10 AM, and the program will end at about Noon.

S.O.F.I.A. is pleased to share the generous sponsors who make the Walk Against Domestic Violence possible. Partners For Health is a Silver Sponsor.  Allstate of Roseland, Schlaefer Masonry, Applebee’s, Coda Maplewood, Eureka Lodge #52 Prince Hall, and Mosaic Strategies Group, and Shavar Jeffries are all Bronze Sponsors.  These sponsorships help keep our support programs and victims services vibrant, consistent, and effective. 

S.O.F.I.A. is also grateful for local businesses who provide donations in kind to the Walk Against Domestic Violence. The Grand Marshall for this year’s Walk Against Domestic Violence is Betty Mantion of Love You Girl Foundation; the guest speaker is Shavar Jeffries, who lost his mother to domestic violence. Wolke Chiropractic will be offering complimentary chair massages throughout the event, and swag bags and prizes will be available to participants on a first come, first served basis.

Joining S.O.F.I.A.’s 5th Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence on September 12th means showing support through action and dedication. S.O.F.I.A. holds its Walk Against Domestic Violence is to show our survivors, as well as those still in abusive relationships, that they are not alone and that they have a network of support to hold them up. 

It’s not too late to get involved! Registration for individuals starts at just $10, and Team Captains can register their teams for $35 and have team members sign up for $10 each. Having a team represent a business, organization, or community group is a great way to highlight community involvement and values. We hope you’ll join us!  See information here:
