EAST ORANGE, NJ - Mayor Lester Taylor and the East Orange City Council sponsored the annual Tree Lighting and Toy Giveaway Holiday Celebration Tuesday night to the delight of dozens of excited families and children.

The City Hall rotunda was abuzz with activities as the night’s performers, volunteers and sponsors filled the space with excitement and energy.

Cicely Tyson Middle School Choir, under the direction of Jean James opened the festivities with season appropriate carols; followed by the Cicely tyson School Jazz Band bridging holiday classics.

The audience, that continued to grow through the evening, was kindly greeted by the Mayor and City Council Chair Alicia Holman; but the highlight was the arrival of Santa (courtesy of the East Orange Fire Department).

The evening concluded with a toy giveaway for the children and their parents that were grateful for the assistance from the City.

2nd Annual Love & Not Hate March Today in East Orange

EAST ORANGE, NJ - This morning the Rev. Al Sharpton will join East Orange Mayor Ted Green for their 2nd Annual Love & Not Hate March against gun violence at 8:00 AM. 

The March will begin at Hollywood Ave & Central Avenue in East Orange and will work its way to Oval Park. Once at the park there will be youth activities, vendors, music, school give-a-ways and much more.
