EAST ORANGE, NJ - Sierra House of East Orange (S/H), NJ officially may be registered as a transitional home for homeless young women and mothers; but as our pictures show it's really just a place where the love and joy of life is shared.
This reporter spent a part of Saturday afternoon with these ladies and their children; as well as, dedicated S/H board members; the amazing S/H staff and some even invited their spouses. The atmosphere was as warm and as festive as any other loving family's home. As always in the midst of it all was Keely Freeman S/H Executive Director.
Ms. Freeman is a woman on a mission, fulfilling the dream and vision she had hoped for S/H. She was inspired over 12 years ago to follow this path and to inspire others to come along and help and support Sierra House. Today much of that has come into fruition.
There is a portrait of Keely as a little girl in the house; I didn’t want to embarrass her by taking a picture of it; not because she wasn't a cute sassy looking little girl...but more because of her humility...when you're around her enough you will see it's never about her, it's always about helping others...If it sounds like I bought and drank the Sierra House & Keely Freeman Kool-Aid, you would be right lol!
Pick up the phone and call the office and give them a financial gift or offer to donate your time on one of their projects or events; or just stop by and spend some time "chilling”, with the moms and their kids, I promise you that you too will be blessed and walk away with a cup of the Kool-Aid yourself.
