EAST ORANGE, NJ - The Central Avenue Business District (CABID) is transforming every Friday evening in August, between 5-8pm, into Soulful Fridays on Central Avenue in East Orange. Soulful Friday is a creation of CABID to share and to showcase the many fine shops and stores populating our central business corridor.
We spoke to Mark Cheatam, the event coordinator, who informed us that CABID is hosting this outdoor business networking gala, complete with dining opportunities, special musical artists and other festivities, at the Central Avenue Promenade; to literally transform this prominent public space into an innovative creative space. But more importantly, CABID hopes to galvanize the support and patronage of local area residents in response to this outreach.
Cheatam remarks, “CABID is demonstrating its commitment to the revitalization of the Central Business District. Local business integration is the key component of the project. The event will provide great summer entertainment and spotlight local businesses. This is a true Shop Local Initiative”.
When asked is there a theme, Cheatam responds, “The Avenue is Central”.
