Spring Season Celebrated with Host of Distinguished Honorees at Historical Society of East Orange Annual Lawn Party

EAST ORANGE, NJ - A host of distinguished civic- minded individuals will be honored for their extraordinary service and outstanding contributions at the annual Historical Society of East Orange (HSEO) Lawn Party. A special presentation of the annual Donald M. Payne Scholarship will also be a featured highlight of the occasion.  The public is invited to attend the festive rite of late spring, being held on Sunday, June 11, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Cicely Tyson Community School of the Performing and Fine Arts 35 Winans Street, East Orange, NJ. Tickets are $50 per person.

Among the host of six honorees are: Richard H. Clark, L. Harold Karns, the Hip Hop Group from East Orange Naughty by Nature, Isha Trotman, Donald Wharton, Adegoke Steve Colson. 

In addition to the honorees – special appearances are anticipated by a host of celebrated arts and entertainment luminaries who have been invited to attend the festivities.

For the past several years, the Historical Society of East Orange has hosted this hallmark event to honor worthy achievements and contributions of distinguished individuals and to   preserve and create greater public awareness about the proud and rich history of the great City of East Orange. The presentation of the Donald M. Payne Scholarship honoring New Jersey’s first African American elected to Congress representing the 10th Congressional District is bestowed upon a deserving student from the City of East Orange, to help support their higher education aspirations.  

A sumptuous buffet of culinary delights and refreshments will be served.
