EAST ORANGE, NJ - News spread last night about the passing of Grandmaster Theodore R. Green, Sr., the father of East Orange Mayor Ted R. Green, Jr.

Across social media, homage is being paid to a man described as a martial art grandmaster, teacher, father, grandfather, and positive example of manhood in the community.

If you have ever spent time with the Mayor, you would know it is not long before he mentions his father. Whether retelling a lesson he learned from the patriarch, or a humorous story, the presence of the man can be felt in the impact of his children and grandchildren.

This is the second parental loss to the Mayor this year. In March, the Green family laid his mother, Lulu Mae Green to rest. Mayor Green was by the side of them both until the end, catering to their needs while also running the City. Celebration of life service details has not yet been announced.
