“Transformational Living” theme Marks the Essex Association of American Baptist Churches of New Jersey’s 48th Annual Business Meeting & Rally

EAST ORANGE, NJ - Church dignitaries and ministry leaders from across Essex County will gather for its 48th Annual Business Meeting and Rally on Saturday, June 9th, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church of East Orange, located at 144 Norman Street in East Orange, NJ.

The theme for this year’s event is “Transformational Living.” The annual program brings together Baptist churches throughout Essex County. The focuses this past year have been on community outreach, domestic violence, foster and adoption care, and mental health. The Association has continued to move forward under the direction of Rev. Geraldine Clark, Essex Association Moderator.

The keynote speaker for the occasion will be Rev. Timothy L. Adkins-Jones, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. He is an active member of the community as well as a sought-out lecturer and speaker across the nation. Rev. Adkins-Jones also serves as part of the Clergy Caucus for Faith in New Jersey, a non- partisan, multi-faith organization seeking social and economic change through policy and relationships. A well-respected scholar, Rev. Adkins-Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Amherst College, a Master of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology and is a current candidate for the Doctorate of Philosophy in Practical Theology with a concentration in Homiletics at Boston University.

Each year, the Association strives to have new speakers and fresh topics of interest. “We believe that the Lord makes all things new to those whom He delivers. For that reason, we want to equip participants with tools to flourish as they move through life and face transformational issues in their personal lives, work place, church, as well as in the community,” said Rev. Clark

Registration is now open for the event. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for youth (ages 13-19), which includes all conference sessions, breakfast and lunch. The event is being sponsored by the Essex Association of the American Baptist Churches of New Jersey.
