ValleyArts Holds OPEN ORANGE 2017 Exhibition to Showcase Tri-State Artists

ORANGE, NJ - ValleyArts is currently holding OPEN ORANGE 2017, an exhibition of two-dimensional art created by artists in the Tri-State area. All work will be displayed at the Community Gallery until June 11.

Patricia Hutchinson of Belmar, NJ has been awarded Best In Show. On June 10, ValleyArts will hold the OPEN ORANGE Artist Talk from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Closing Reception from 5 p. m. to 7 p.m.

“Open Orange is one of the largest juried shows in the area and this year’s show is our most successful yet. We hope people will come out and peruse the exception art in the show,” said Jeremy Moss, Deputy Director of ValleyArts and chair of OPEN ORANGE 2017.

OPEN ORANGE is a juried exhibition selected by nationally prominent jurors; Diedre Harris-Kelley, accomplished artist and co-director and curatorial lead of the Romare Beardon Foundation, Nigel Freeman, director of the African-American Fine Art Department at Sean Auction Galleries, NYC, advisory board member of the Hampton University Museum in Virginia and print appraiser on PBS's Antique Roadshow, and Caro Kalb-Marr, curator and owner of Gallery Ovo and art collector.

A project of the ValleyArts Visual Arts Advisory Committee, OPEN ORANGE 2017 is open to the public during ValleyArts Community Gallery hours. Guests are welcome to view the exhibition Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment outside of these hours, please call 862.252.7035.

The ValleyArts Community Gallery, located at 400 S. Jefferson Street in Orange, is a beautiful new space that opened in 2017 as a signature visual gallery space for ValleyArts. The gallery hosts an array of exhibitions, shows, and events throughout the year.
