EAST ORANGE, NJ - Mayor Taylor continues his quest to ensure the residents of East Orange have safe and healthy homes. This Saturday November 7, 015 the city will host another Free Smoke Alarm Installation Event.; and is soliciting volunteers to assist in the installations.
Over the past year, the city has launched several initiatives to improve the quality of life in the city: but none more important than fire safety.
In his monthly address to the residents Mayor Taylor remarks, “Fire safety education is vital to preventing fires and other hazards during the winter. Our Fire Prevention Bureau recently completed a comprehensive fire safety campaign in our schools throughout the month of October. On Saturday, November 7, 2015, volunteers from the East Orange Fire Department, the Community Response Emergency Team (CERT) and the American Red Cross will be installing smoke detectors and distributing safety information to residents in the 1st, 2nd and 5th Wards. Since the launch of this joint campaign earlier this year, we've installed approximately 1,000 free smoke alarms and visited more than 500 homes. Additional neighborhoods will be added throughout the season.”
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact contact David Williams at (973) 266-5507 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
The assembly point will be the East Orange Senior Center, 90 Halsted St, at 9am.
