EAST ORANGE, NJ — A fact that is often overlooked when considering the City of East Orange is its tremendous cultural diversity. The city’s home page maintains, East Orange is ‘currently home to a diverse cultural mecca of people representing countries from around the globe’. A positive consequence of this diversity is the variety of food choices that each culture introduces to the town. And in response to the dynamic diversity of the citizenry the city is hosting a week-long Restaurant Week featuring cuisines from all over the world.
East Orange Restaurant Week 2019 is planned for Monday, November 4th through Sunday, November 10th and will celebrate the vital role our local independent restaurants play in contributing to East Orange's cultural identity and regional economy. East Orange Restaurant Week highlights the international flavors found in East Orange and promotes East Orange dining local.
The week will feature cuisines representing the Caribbean, Mediterranean, South African, Spanish, Trinidadian, Soul, Fusion, Grilled Seafood and several other restaurants that will serve up prix-fixed menus and special offers all week-long.
Additionally, Each night of the week, two of the participating restaurants will host special events at their place of business, catering to their culture, cuisine and/or customer base.
And on Saturday, November 9th, under one-roof, all participating restaurants will feature two of their signature side dishes at ‘A Taste of East Orange’. This event will be held at the Essence Rooftop, located 144 South Harrison, East Orange.
Tickets will be sold through Eventbrite for a nominal fee.
