Do you that “Near me” searches can offer your business an amazing opportunity to gain new customers? This is because recent research shows that most mobile shoppers use these searches to find nearby local businesses.

Over 82% of all mobile buyers search online using “near me” searches. This is astonishing.

Are you leveraging this opportunity? If you’re like many business owners, the answer is perhaps not. But optimizing your business and website for this kind of search isn’t as difficult as you think.

Where to Start

  1. Step Up Your Google My Business Page

Have you claimed and verified your Google My Business page? If not, do it today!

One simple way to find out if your company is listed in any place online is to search for your business name. Include the locale or city it’s supposed to be listed in.

And if you aren’t listed, take action. For example, if you’re a psychiatrist in Los Angeles, California, people would search for “psychiatrist Los Angeles.” This way they’d see the top local results as well as a local map, and you want to be included in this list.

When setting up your Google My Business page, assign your business the listed category that best describes it. Add as much information as possible about your company. Add hours, payment types, phone numbers, email addresses, URLs, photos, videos, and coupons. Fill all the fields, if possible.

After you’re done, create videos, upload them to YouTube and link them to your business profile on Google Places.

However, listing and verifying your business isn’t enough. Make sure that all the information about your business is correct. This means you need to pay attention to these areas:

  • Have a custom image of your business and make sure it looks good.
  • Make sure the name of your company matches what you use across the web.
  • Make sure your URL goes straight to your homepage without getting redirected.
  • Make sure that the phone number is correct.
  • Make sure your address is correct, and that it matches the address you have on your website.

Once your Google My Business page is perfect, turn your attention to Bing, Yelp, and other sites where your company has a profile. And make sure all the information in those sites is correct too.
