It is only natural to feel down from time to time, but if you seem to be locked in a cycle of negativity, it is time to seek help in order to become your best self and live your best life.

There are a number of signs to watch out for, including:

Feeling Down or Blue All the Time

It is natural to have peaks and troughs of energy and mood, but if you feel down all the time, it could be a sign of depression. Seventy percent of depression cases are related to chemical imbalances in the brain. If you would not be embarrassed to seek treatment for cancer, you shouldn’t be embarrassed to seek help if you think you might be suffering from depression.

Extreme Mood Swings

If your highs are very high, and followed by extreme lows, this could be a sign of bipolar disorder. Again, there are many effective treatments for this, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or "talk therapy". CBT helps keep your moods even, without heavy-duty medications. Best of all, it can be done anywhere, including over the phone.

Anxiety

If you constantly feel worried, but for no specific reason, you might have an anxiety disorder. If your worries are not realistic, or out of proportion to the situation (such as a terror of going to parties), seeking help in the form of CBT can lessen these issues.

Anger Management

Many people struggle with anger. Fortunately, there are effective anger management techniques to help you process your anger in a productive, not destructive way. This can improve your relationships, job and so on.

Negative Self-Talk

If you hold yourself to an impossibly high standard and beat yourself up over the least little thing, this negative pattern can hold you back from getting the most out of life. The negative self-talk might be ingrained from the way you were treated when younger, or the result of comparing yourself to others and finding fault. CBT can help with this too.

Constant Negativity and Discontent

If you are constantly feeling "A day late and a dollar short", this negativity can be self-perpetuating. A mind of abundance appreciates all it has rather than focusing on what it doesn’t. It is optimistic, not pessimistic. It sees opportunities, not obstacles. If you are feeling "stuck" in your life, identify an area you want to improve. Then seek help and take action. You could go to a career counselor, attend seminars and more.

You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to be your best self and live your best life. If you’ve been struggling with any of these issues, it’s time to seek help and enjoy a life of greater abundance.
