EAST ORANGE, NJ -- Today’s spotlight business is Spice & Things located at 442 Main Street (see attached video).

Spice & Things is one of the featured participants during the East Orange Restaurant Week 2019 and Taste of East Orange on November 9, 2019. East Orange Restaurant Week (November 4th — November 10th) highlights the international flavors found in East Orange and promotes East Orange dining local.

The husband and wife team of Roger and Andrea Miller own and operate Spice and Things; a local Caribbean Restaurant located at 442 Main Street in East Orange. Chef Roger also serves as personal chefs for singer, songwriter and rapper Lauryn Hill.

When asked why they brought their business to East Orange, they responded, “one of the reasons we migrated from New York (Queens) to East Orange was the fact that EO has one of the largest Guyanese populations in New Jersey; and also we are on Main Street, it’s a good location. We get people traveling as far as Jersey City and Long Island.” 


A Taste of East Orange on November 9th brings ten restaurants onto one rooftop for an evening of international flavors, live jazz, and sensational art. Bask in the thrilling views from the top of the Essence while building connections with the individuals cooking up both food and community in our city. This event will be held at the Essence Rooftop, located 144 South Harrison, East Orange.  

Restaurants providing samples of their cuisine during this experience include: Spice N Thing, Dominy's, Soul Food Factory, Urban Taste, South Beach Bar & Grill, International Fusion Restaurant, Limin's Cafe Caribe, Strictly Bagels & Things, Jersey Boys Halal, and Mrs G's and more.

Art by local artists Sterling Brown and Gwendolyn 'Arri' Jackson will surround the space, while a    specialty beer called 'Brick Church' from Four City Brewing will premiere and flow from the tap.
