EAST ORANGE, NJ - Mayor Ted R. Green, East Orange City Council and Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs will host a reenactment of the age-old debate between Booker T. Washington and Dr. W.E.B. DuBois on Thursday February 22, 2018 at the East Orange Campus High School Auditorium.

The debate which pits those in favor of Washington’s philosophy of self-help and racial solidarity against Dr DuBois and his view on the development of the “Talented Tenth”, will be represented by a very able panel of  social innovators including Ms. Catherine Willis, Osei Dukes, Shea Richardson, Council President Romal Bullock, Eric Perryman and Precious Osagie-Erese.

Following the debate the City will honor several individuals the first annual Lifetime Citizen Award. This year’s awardees are: Ronald Riddick, John Henry, Arthur Wright, Abdul Hassan, William Holt, Leon Moss and Henry Hamilton.
