Middle School Students Will Be Flying This Summer at the 2017 ACE Academy

STEM Program Introduces Middle School Students To Aviation Careers

EAST ORANGE, NJ - From July 24-28, several government and private aviation organizations are teaming up to provide twenty students from Northern New Jersey a first-time introduction to the exciting world of aviation.

The 2017 Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy is coordinated by the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees Northeast Region and the Eagle Flight Pilot Training Academy in East Orange, New Jersey, a NJ non-profit organization that helps teenagers earn their private pilot license in high school.

The purpose of the one week STEM program is to introduce middle school students to a wide-variety of aviation careers -- in aeronautics, air traffic control, and computer science -- through special behind-the-scenes tours of major aviation facilities in the New York /New Jersey region.  There are more airplanes closer together in New York and New Jersey than anywhere on earth.  Young participants will be inspired to witness these operations up-close and to meet the professionals responsible for achieving flight safety.

Activities will include:

+  Tour of JFK International Airport

+  Visit to FAA Research & Development Labs

+  Realistic Flight simulators

+  Robotics Laboratory Demos

+  And an opportunity to fly a plane with an instructor

Space is available but limited to 20 students.

Cost is $50 and lunch will be provided.

For application information, contact Eagle Flight, Executive Director, Michael Chisholm at michael@eagleflightsquadron.com, 973-674-3580 or Camp Director, David Hubbard at 973-280-7189, davidhub@gmail.com.

I know that people do not want to sit through a session about their health insurance (BOOOOOORING).  Unfortunately, it is necessary.  If your insurance agent is boring and he or she sounds more like the teacher from “Charlie Brown” and you tuned-out, doing all you could to keep from going to sleep.

It does not have to be that way.  ...
