Essex County to Host September 11 Memorial Ceremony

West Orange, NJ – On Monday, September 11th, Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites the public to “Essex County Remembers,” a solemn ceremony at the Essex County Eagle Rock September 11th Memorial that will mark the 16th anniversary of the tragedies in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania. A brief program with family members who lost a loved one in the tragedies, elected officials and clergy members from diverse religious faiths will be held at 8 a.m.

Memorial wreaths will be laid at the monument and a new American flag will be raised. A string quartet will perform reverent selections of music at the memorial site after the ceremony until 2 p.m.

2nd Annual Love & Not Hate March Today in East Orange

EAST ORANGE, NJ - This morning the Rev. Al Sharpton will join East Orange Mayor Ted Green for their 2nd Annual Love & Not Hate March against gun violence at 8:00 AM. 

The March will begin at Hollywood Ave & Central Avenue in East Orange and will work its way to Oval Park. Once at the park there will be youth activities, vendors, music, school give-a-ways and much more.
