EAST ORANGE, NJ - The Men of Essex, Inc. recently celebrated their 60th year of service, making them one of the oldest athletic scholarship organizations in the state. And for 57 years golfers from all over the area have supported the Men of Essex Golf Classic at their various golf fund raisers held at fabulous venues throughout Essex County. 

Monday August 13, 2018 will mark the 58th year of this cerebration; but this time with a surprising twist. The 2018 Men of Essex organization Student Aid Fund in addition to the golf outing will add to their menu of activities a Spa Pool Party.

The Spa Pool Party will include live music, facials, brunch on the patio, manicures, a cocktail hour and a host of other amenities for patrons that want to contribute but prefer not to golf.

For the past 59 years, the Men of Essex has been at the forefront of assisting students achieve their higher education aspirations and recognizing outstanding scholastic and athletic achievement. This year, marks their 60th anniversary.

They have a proud legacy of unsurpassed excellence to the 22 communities in Essex County, New Jersey and, are on a mission to leverage 59 years of service equity to continue to help meet the increasing need to provide financial assistance to those deserving students who are pursuing their goals and dreams at institutions of higher education throughout this great nation.

As a service organization of professional men – this has been their primary purpose to serve as mentors and as a conduit to a better future for our young people.   

The Men of Essex is one of New Jersey's oldest African-American charitable organizations dedicated to bettering the lives of residents in the Greater Essex County community. 

With the continued support of our sponsors, the Men of Essex Golf Classic (“The Classic”) has proudly grown to become one of the most successful and most-anticipated fundraising events of the summer season.  More than $300,000 has been raised to through the years to support our mission of recognizing student-athletes for their achievements and supporting their higher education aspirations via our Student Aid Fund.
