EAST ORANGE, NJ — For decades the corner of William and Lincoln Street has been an eyesore. The property at that corner sat unattended, undeveloped and uninhabitable; until now. Last week the new owners of 475 William Street (Fountain Group, LLC) unveiled their plan to reconstruct a five-story housing (see rendering) with a groundbreaking ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by local dignitaries including Mayor Ted Green, Councilwoman Quilla Talmadge, Councilman Casim Gomez, Councilman Bergson Leneus, Councilman Mustafa Al-M. Brent, Councilman Christopher Awe, Planning Director Dan Jennings and the owners and staff of Fountain Group, LLC.

Local business owners and residents attended the ceremony as well. The sentiment was overwhelmingly positive. One store owner shouted out, “about time”. In his brief statement the mayor acknowledged the length of time this property stood undeveloped and graciously thanked the development partners for once again making this property a viable community asset.
