2013 Edison High School Alumni Drowning Fatality Funeral Set


Jonathan Marcel Rocha Baksh, 19, passed away on August 17, after a tragic drowning accident in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Jonathan was born in Queens, NY, on November 12, 1995 and moved to Edison in October of 2003.

He was a graduate of Edison High School, Class of 2013 and was going to attend Middlesex County College.

His second home was in Trinidad, where he spent many summers with his extended family.

Jonathan loved his music and was a huge FIFA fan. His favorite teams were Barcelona and Chelsea. He worked as a server at the Skylark Diner in Edison.

Jonathan was a special part of a huge and loving family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Sally and Ben Yabra; his sister, Alexa Yabra; his brothers, Gabriel and Benjamin Yabra, all of Edison; his grandparents, Grandma Mammy, Grandpa Pappi and Grandma Sugita; his Godparents, Josimar and Izenir Silveira; his uncles: Marcilio, Baby, Roopchand, Ganesh, Mohan, Bill and Shiva; his aunties: Angie, Vadie, Sherry, Michelle and Navita; his cousins: Chris, Abbygail, Joey, Richard, Kristina, Rima, Hema, Budha, Sastri, Usha, Amrita, Nicholas, Amy, Zackory, Hannah Braun; the Rocha family in Minas Gerias, Belo Horizonte Brazil: Sonia, Stephanny, Marcilio, Vanessa; his Godson, Baby Marcello; and many others.

Funeral services will be at 12 Noon on Monday, August 24, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840. Visitation will be on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to Noon with a service at Noon officiated by Rev. Frank Fellrath. Entombment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be establishing a charitable foundation in Jonathan's memory.
