2014 Miss Pakistan World Pageant Coming to Edison

EDISON, NJ - For the first time in the United States, the 12th annual Miss World Pakistan beauty pageant will be held at the Royal Albert Palace in Edison on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.

The current Miss Pakistan World 2013, Shanzay Hayat, will grace the event that will culminate with the crowning of the 12th Miss Pakistan World.

Shanzay Hayat represented Pakistan for the first time in the Miss Asia Pacific World 2014 pageant in Seoul on May 31, 2014. She also broke new ground as the first contestant to represent Pakistan in the Miss Grand International 2013.

Hayat performs a traditional belly dance at the 2013 Miss Pakistan World during the talent portion of the pageant.

This international pageant sends its contestants to pageants like Miss Earth, Miss Asia Pacific, Miss Grand International and many more. The winner serve as role models of a modern Pakistan to people in the West. 

The president of Miss Pakistan World, Sonia Ahmed, stated that she is excited to bring this event to the United States after holding the pageant in Toronto, Canada for the past 11 years. The Miss Pakistan World organization announced that the pageant will make the U.S. its permanent home.

Mrs. Pakistan World 2014, Mariam Mohammad, as well as Mr. Pakistan World 2013, Shayan Farooqi, will also be on hand as special guests. 

The event is supported by New Jersey and New York's South Asian Community with sponsors, media partners and volunteers. Prominent members of the community as well as prominent public figures from the area will attend the pageants U.S. debut.
