EDISON, NJ – The local nonprofit Bianca’s Kids announced today that it has been honored with the prestigious 2014 top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2014 Nonprofit,” said Terry Balka, Managing Director of Bianca’s Kids’ North in Edison. Balka continued “We are proud of the thousands of wishes we have granted to children in need in memory of Bianca.”

The organization was established in memory of Bianca Yodice, a resident of Edison who was tragically killed in a traffic accident on Route 1 on August 24, 2010.  At the time she was an assistant teacher at the Little Genius Academy in Edison. It was Yodice’s passion and love for children that inspired her family and friends to create the organization in her memory.

In four short years, the foundation has granted nearly 11,000 wishes to children in need.  Although the foundation was established by family members in South Jersey, Yodice’s friend Teresa Balka jumped on board immediately to head the foundation’s north branch in Edison.

The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that Bianca’s Kids received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit.

One person wrote, “I don't think words could ever express the gratitude I have for Bianca's Kids. I have dealt with a lot of organizations but Bianca's Kids surpasses them with the heartfelt love for each and every person they come in contact with. The world would be a much better place if it was half filled with people like this.

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, Bianca’s Kids was part of the inaugural group to qualify for the year. In addition, the organization has been added to GreatNonprofits #GivingTuesday Guide—an interactive guide to top nonprofits throughout the years. Look for this near the holidays.

“Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with Bianca’s Kids have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”

Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization. The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit. This prestigious award is a form of recognition by the community.
