BREAKING: Gas Leak Closes Route 287 Overpass In Edison, Police Say



EDISON, NJ - The Route 287 overpass at Talmadge Road is closed until further notice due to a gas leak, police said Thursday morning.

According to an alert from the police, the road is closed in both directions.

Public Service Electric and Gas spokesman Brooke Houston said the utility is on the scene and monitoring the situation.

"We are aware of and monitoring the leak until we make repairs," she said in an email. "It does not pose a safety hazard to the public. We are working with town officials to plan the work."
