EDISON, NJ - More than 1,000 people attended the invitation only opening of Donald Trumps’ New Jersey headquarters in Edison Tuesday night as the billionaire businessman became the Republican party’s presumptive nominee for president.

Several state Legislators, including Sen. Sam Thompson, Middlesex County GOP Chairman, spoke at the event praising Trump and encouraging all Republicans to unify in the effort to defeat Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton in November.

Trump ascended to the top of the GOP ticket Tuesday night with a dominating victory in the Indiana Republican Primary, defeating rival U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz by about 20 points.

Cruz suspended his campaign during a speech to supporters following the election.

Of the 1,000 or so attending the opening, approximately 40 percent were women representing a wide age range from the 20’s to senior citizens.

A number of the women who attended came in groups, but a majority of them came with male companions.

The excitement in the room was undeniable as each speaker touched on highlights of the campaign that resulted in the original field of 17 GOP candidates, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, reducing to just Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Kasich, however, has only won his home state and does not have a way to clinch the party’s nomination on the first ballot at the scheduled convention in Cleveland this July.

As the Indiana polls closed and the results came in declaring Trump as the winner, the room broke out in shouts and screams that were ear piercing, with everyone yelling Trump, Trump, Trump!
