Edison Arts Society Presents - The Soul of Portugal

The Edison Arts Society is proud to present THE SOUL OF PORTUGAL exhibit celebrating the 35th anniversary of Fernando Silva's artistry.  This exhibit will open on Wednesday, January 10th at 6:30 pm on the 3rd floor of the Municipal Building in Edison.  The exhibit will be available for viewing until February 28, 2018 at which another artist will be featured.
 
Mr. Silva was born in Torreira, Portugal.  Prior to discovering his love for art he was a pilot in the Portuguese Air Force from 1972 to 1978.  He graduated with a degree in urban design in 198 and continued his education at the Caloust Gulbenkian in Aveiro, Portugal.  He earned an advanced degree in ceramics under the supervision of Master Antonio Pascoal.
 
Since 1983, he has participated in various exhibitions in both individual and group shows.  He has had exhibit within the United States as well as internationally -- Portugal, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Ukraine, Brazil and Africa.  Visual art is not his only venue.  He enjoys illustrating for poetry books along with designing theatrical sets.

Fernando has been an active member of the Edison Arts Society since 2004.  Gloria S. Dittman said "she  believes that this world needs more people who are givers i.e. Fernando.  He created two magnificent ceramic murals which enhances the entrance to the Edison Town Hall."

ESCNJ Named “Ambassador Program” Representative By Autism NJ
