Edison Man Charged in Death of North Brunswick Motorcyclist on Route 1

EDISON, NJ - An Edison man has been charged with causing the death of a motorcyclist on Route 1 Wednesday.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department said that Vishwalee Gummakonda, 25, of  Edison was charged with the second-degree crime of death by auto and driving while intoxicated.

Matthew Muklewicz of North Brunswick was pronounced dead at the scene very early Wednesday morning after his 2015 Honda Shadow Motorcyle was struck while stopped at a traffic light.

During the investigation, which is ongoing, it was determined that Muklewicz was stopped at a light on the corner of Route 1 and Plainfield Avenue. Gummakonda, who driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Wagon, was traveling on Route 1 South and rear-ended the motorcycle.

Nearly $900K Bid Received for Construction of New New Brunswick Park

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Only one company submitted a bid to build a new city park on land where three abandoned houses once stood.
